Tejas Riders
Palestine, Texas
The Tejas Riders is a young ladies western drill team which is part of the Tejas Girl Scout Council's Equestrian program and the average number of members is 16. This program has been in place since 1990 and is open to girls ages 12-18 years. There are 4 teams, which are grouped by experience level. The team that actually performs the drill is the most advanced of the 4 teams.
The primary goal of the
team is to teach young girls about horsemanship, and to provide them with
an opportunity to teach younger girls about horses.
In 1998 The Tejas Riders
placed 2nd at the Palestine Dogwood Festival parade. In 1999 they
took 2nd place at the Palestine Hot Pepper Festival.
